Sue studied Creative Art at the University of Wollongong in the mid-1980s, and creative writing under teachers Ron Pretty, Martin Buzacott, Rodney Hall and Kirpal Singh. She was published in the university literary journal, SCARP, numerous times. With her fine arts degree in hand, she inexplicably moved to Sydney to begin working for Australia Post.
In 2009, she moved to Japan and began working as a teacher of English as a Second Language. This job took her to Vietnam, Indonesia, China and back to Japan again. In 2018, she joined the Tokyo Writers Workshop and has since had over a dozen stories published in Australia and beyond. While writing short stories is her passion, several novels have made it to almost-full length first drafts thanks to NaNoWriMo.
